Ternary Metal-Alginate-Chitosan Composites for Controlled Uptake of Methyl Orange

Three ternary metal composites (TMCs) with iron nitrate, aluminum and copper nitrate (Fe-TMC-N, Al-TMC-N, Cu-TMC-N) were synthesized their physicochemical properties investigated. Characterization of the TMCs was achieved by elemental analysis (XPS), infrared (IR) spectroscopy thermogravimetric (TGA). The surface charge estimated from point-of-zero-charge (PZC), which depended on type precursor. adsorption showed vital role center, where methylene blue (MB) is a cationic dye probe that confirmed effects for effective methyl orange (MO) anion uptake. MB uptake negligible Al-TMC-N Cu-TMC-N, whereas moderate occurs Fe-TMC-N (26 mg/g) at equilibrium. capacity MO adopted Langmuir isotherm model, as follows: (422 mg/g), Cu-TMC-N (467 (42 mg/g). kinetic profiles followed pseudo-second order model. Generally, incorporation within TMC structure less suitable removal, Cu- or Al-based materials show greater (10-fold) over Fe-based TMCs. results herein provide new insight adsorbent design controlled oxyanion species water.
